My favourite VoIP application Skype has today been released as a public beta for Linux.

Today Skype released their first public beta version of Skype for Linux.

I have known for some time that Skype was developing a Linux version based on Qt 3.2, but now I fear my next meeting with the Qt developers at TrolltechRPM that I have “Friday beer” with.

Skype is available for the following Linux distrobutions: SuSE 8 (Qt 3.1) and 9, Fedora Core, Mandrake 9 and Sun Java Desktop System R2 (Qt 3.1).

I have stopped using Sun Java Desktop System for now, as the R2 didn’t bring any new stuff for the enduser, but have installed Skype on my Fedora R2 yesterday, It went without any problems at all.

Now just get the MacOS X version out!!!
