A huge step in the right direction!
I recently became a frequent reader of Nat Friedman’s blog, and yesterday I read that Gnome was finally getting it’s OpenGL desktop.
David Reveman recently started working for Novell, and is known to have been working on a new X server for some time. His X server runs on OpenGL/Glitz and is called Xgl. The solution makes use of hardware acceleration, and is something that I have wanted for BeOS / Zeta for a long, long time.
My favorite music player under Linux, the Mono based Muine, has never looked better.
I got my replacement laptop after the old one started burning this week, and it was great being back in Zeta and Ubuntu. Two weeks without them was a pain that I didn’t deserve, but finally everything is back to normal.
