Got my MacBook Pro 15″
I got my new MacBook Pro 15″, 2 GB Ram, 128 MB Ram graphic card, today in the afternoon. Managed to get most software installed, except from MS Office, iWork and Cisco VPN. They will be installed the next following days. All the freeware that I normally use, are in place now. As this is my new work machine, I have also gotten hold of a copy of Apple’s Remote Desktop 3. Bootcamp is installed, but I have burnt out the driver CD or installed Windows yet. Parallels is of course also installed
I have a 19″ WS LCD screen at home with the same screen resolution as this 15″: 1440×900 pixels. Just perfect to running the laptop with two screens.
I find the machine to be great, but there is just one thing that I already find problematic, and that is the heat. This machine gets damn hot! I have been working with Core Duos from Dell and found them to not have the same heat problem. This seems to be a design issue and far worse then the G4 laptops. And this evening a friend pointed me to an article published on Heise.de yesterday: Neue Probleme mit dem MacBook und die mögliche Ursache (New problems with the MacBook and possible cause).
Well, well, seems like this laptop might get replaced with a new one soon! This doesn’t look promising…
