I have been a long time Mac user and always been proud of it. But recently I discovered that Macs are not the most environment friendly machines. In fact, they were one of the worsts according to Greenpeace’s ‘Guide to Greener Electronics‘ in August 2006 and Greenpeace made their own Apple site to state it!

Today Greenpeace released their second guide, and could state: “We are witnessing a global shift towards greener PCs, with Acer and Lenovo, two major producers, committing to eliminate the use of the most hazardous chemicals from their products range”. Sadly this is not the case with Apple. They have made no improvements in their policies and is now bottom of the ranking. While its arch rivals make progress, the world leader in innovation and design is falling further behind.

Just as Greenpeace, I would have expected Apple to also in this area to be ‘thinking different’, and it not being the best one, but at least one of the best!

I hope my next Mac will be green!
