Today Microsoft will release Windows Vista in 6 different versions. 5 years of waiting has come to an end. Well, that is for the rest of the world. In Norway for some strange reason, Microsoft decided to release Vista and Office 2007 tomorrow instead.
Many of us will rush out and buy a copy of one of these versions, but others will not. I on the other hand has been running Windows Vista since December as my main operating system, and I find it seriously good. But there was untill quite recently a few drivers that I was missing, but now I have a fully working Thinkpad with Intel’s 3945 wireless driver working even with advanced security settings (WPA Enterprise and 802.1x) and Microsoft web camera. Even my old analogue TV card from Hauppauge is fully working.
If you have a newer computer, you should consider upgrading to Windows Vista. But I recommend that only for machines that doesn’t have shared graphic memory, at least a 2 GHz CPU and at least 2 GB of memory. Yes, Vista is power hungry and I consider 1 GB of RAM to be an absolutly minimum to run Vista!
I hope you enjoy this movie with David Pogue, the man behind The Missing Manual books and one of my favourite authors, but remember is so much more …
