Google Map for Pocket PC
One of the big things with the iPhone appearently was that it would have a Google Map client built in, and not a JAVA client as most mobile telephones. Yesterday Eugenia Loli posted an article on OSNEWS that linked to her blog about a Google Map client for Pocket PCs/smartphones. She had added two screenshots and a link to a PalmOS version too.
There is nothing special with the iPhone other then the price and the hype around it. You can already do most of the things on other PDA-like mobile phones today, and probably a lot more. I am becoming more and more satisfied with my HTC P4350 as the days go by. It is the best mobile phone I have had so far, by far… It misses 3G/3,5G (HSDPA), and the bigger CPU that is included in HTC TYTN. Sadly there was a limit on how much money I was prepared to spend on a mobile phone. The TYTN model will probably be a bit cheaper then the iPhone here in Norway, and for me it appears to be a much better choice for productivity and communication. The scaring part is that I have started using my HTC phone also as my default music player on my way to and from work. It wasn’t planned as I really like my Sansa e260. But I guess that is one of the reasons for the success that Sony Ericsson is having with their Walkman phones!
