Cheap HD DVD player
According to Betanews Toshiba has started shipments shipments of their new HD-A20 HD DVD player. The player is the first of the high-definition players, either Blu-ray or HD DVD, to offer 1080p resolution for about 2.700 NOK (US $ 400). The player is equipped with a HDMI-connection (1.3) and networking capabilities, and is capable of upscaling ordinary DVDs to near HD quality according to Toshiba. It supports the old audio formats and the new Dolby Digital Plus, DTS HD, and Dolby TrueHD.
Toshiba has also announced that about 70 movies will be released in the period April to July. Universal has told The Digital Bits that they plan to release 100 HD DVD tittles in 2007 including TV-shows like Battlestar Galactica. So there should plenty for us all there! I am at least gonna buy the Battlestar Galactica box…
