Podcast logoI have long wanted to create podcasts, but I have never gotten around to actually doing it. Well, I am getting closer … . A colleague of mine recorded this year’s Aubert lecture, and I got asked to publish it.

Creating RSS-feeds manually is of course possible, but why? A few tools are available for publishing podcasts. The first tool that I tried was The Podcast RSS Buddy, a shareware that excists for both Windows and MacOS X. The userinterface was ok, it just didn’t feel native Windows Vista or MacOS X. All the needed functionality was implemented, except that the tool didn’t have support for special signs like æÆ, øØ and åÅ. Something I hope the developer will add in a future version, cause other then that, it was a nice working tool! Then I then moved on to Podcast Maker for MacOS X, and found it to be perfect!

 Aubert Lecture

My first podcast was simply a recording in MP3. If you want to create the content on a Mac, you should consider using GarageBand, Audio Hijack Pro, QuickTime Pro, or a combination of them. When done, simply drag the content over to Podcast Maker. Files can be dragged and dropped directly from iTunes and iPhoto! Podcast friendly formats are mp3, m4a, mov, mp4, m4v and pdf.

Podcast Maker creates RSS 2.0 and iTunes compatible RSS XML files. Could it get easier? I doubt it!
