Yesterday I learned about an application for the iPhone, that I think will help me a lot. I love NetNewsWire for the iPhone. It keeps track of all the news sites and blogs that I regularly read. But what about those articles that you come over on sites that you are not a frequent reader of? That’s where Instapaper comes to resque! Instapaper comes in both a standard and pro edition for the iPhone. The standard edition is free and the pro edition costs 55 NOK.

And how does Instapaper work? Simple, you add a special bookmark (Read later) to your bookmark bar (on Safari and/or Firefox). As you browse the web and find something you want to read later. You click on the special Read later bookmark. When you have time to read, you can either visit your account on Instapaper on your computer or use the Instapaper application on your iPhone and get whatever you wanted to read.

The developer of Instapaper can be followed on a blog, where you can see that version 1.4 is on it’s way and that Apple blocked it from appearing on iTMS! The reason: Trademark infringement. Apple prohibits the depiction of an iPhone in any icons or graphics in apps. Funny cause the icon looks like almost any kind of phone. It is just as similar to the first generation HTC Android phone as to an iPhone.
