Bysykkel – New iPhone app for Oslo
Today two new Norwegian iPhone applications got released, Bysykkel and TV 2 Sporten. There is nothing special with the second one, so I want be renewing it. I have it installed and I guess I will check some sport news with it. It is very much the Aftenposten application.
The application Bysykkel is designed by the company Tarantell and is available in the App Store for NOK 6, – (approximately US $ 1) . The application only runs on iPhone OS 3.0 or newer, as it uses the new Google Maps functionality which allows developers to include the map data layer on top of Google Maps in an application. The map data is of course real-time data directly from the Oslo Bysykkel web service. It is optimized to load real-time data and triangulere GPS position extremely quickly, so you can quickly find out where it is available to lock bikes and bicycles. And here is a cool feature: Simply shake the iPhone to update the map data.
The application can be very useful for citybike users as they now can plan their route while they are out there instead of checking the status from home or office. The citybike is a very popular service in Oslo and cities across the world.
