Goodreads

Social matters more and more, and that is why Amazon bought Goodreads, a recommendation service with social sharing capabilities. I have long said that book shops are to close, there is no need for most of them. I get most of my reading suggestions from charts and friends, and not from people working in book shops. And I am not a collector of books on shelfs. I can’t stand seeing pocket books collecting dust! Amazon has had a brilliant commenting and reviewing system on their site, […] Continue reading →

Yr.no for iPad

Yesterday NRK released Yr.no 2.0 for iOS. The first version also optimized for iPads. I was quick to install it and to try it out. I started with adding the same places to monitor as on my phone, but ran in to problems when trying to add New York city. The app then crashes! I kind of like the iPhone version better. You are out in the field and have some time to look through your photos, then Photosmith for the iPad might be the solution you’ve been looking for. Photosmith is a combination of iPad app and Lightroom plugin (Mac or PC). As you might already understand, the iPad app is a mobile companion for Lightroom that lets you create Collections, rate, tag, add keywords and metadata to your photos, and then later sync your Collections to Lightroom on your computer wirelessly. For me Photosmith […] Continue reading →

facebook-messenger-update

Facebook today began testing a new feature in its Messenger app for Android and iOS that lets us send short “push to talk” voice messages. A modern walkie-talkie! Canadian iOS users get more as they can call each other for free anywhere they have a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection. So if the test goes well, perhaps the rest of the world will get it for both Android and iOS. We can at least hope. The added functionality is to be expected as Microsoft continues to integrate Skype […] Continue reading →
