Flickr using Nokia maps

What a pleasant surprise. Flickr had a horrible outdated map service and they have now gone over to using Nokia Maps instead. And not only that, they also went over to use the satellite images from Nokia. So if you’re geotagging your photos or simply want to see where other people’s amazing photos were taken – you’ll see up-to-date maps from one of the largest mapping providers in the world. Not only are the maps updated, but the Nokia Maps also provide you a much greater level of […] Continue reading →

Gizmodo has a great article explaining how Yahoo ended up killing Flickr, how Flickr’s developers met with Yahoo’s corporate development team and were forced to defend all of the decisions they had made governing Flickr’s development. And there’s lots of them and it’s easy to subscribe to their feeds and pictures are presented in a nice way. Google+ has so far not […] Continue reading →

I have just seen Blaise Aguera y Arcas is an architect at Microsoft Live Labs, architect of Seadragon and the co-creator of Photosynth, demoing augmented-reality functionality in Microsoft Live Maps. I have been using Microsoft’s map service more and more lately, as it works brilliantly here in Oslo. There are some important things that I miss, like being able to embed maps in to blog posts. I partically liked that Microsoft has been working together with the Flickr developers on some […] Continue reading →
