I guess this might be the next big thing for VoIP. I am at least mighty impressed! I have for some time been looking for a new mobilephone, and today I bought a Nokia E60 for 1 NOK, simply cause it has built in wifi. Why? I wanted to start using Fring. Well, I hope this will be happening in the nearby future. As my mom started using both Google Talk and Gmail (yes, they are allowed to call it Gmail in Norway), the need for having them both available in Norwegian Bokmål was there. Somebody had already translated Gmail, and I am happy to say I am half through translating Google Talk. I’m a frequent reader of the Google Talkabout blog. The software engineer Gary Burd today announced that google talk had turned on server-server connections. From today on Google Talk and Jabber users can communicate with each other over any jabber server deployed. Google Talk

I am a great fan of Google Talk and one of the early adopters. Building an instant message client based on open standards is the way to assure cross platform compatibility. An Google has reached just that with clients for the protocol early being available for Windows, MacOS X, Linux and ZETA.
