I have always heard my dad say: Don’t leave for Hungary in the summer, it’s to warm! Yes, true. But when then, when not in September either? Cause this year, it is just about as warm as the warmest days in July/August. I was down then. The Hungarian newspaper Délmagyar.hu today wrote that a new heat record was set for the city yesterday: 32,8 degrees. Warmest ever measured in September. The forecast says that the temperature is gonna raise till Sunday: The small town Mindszent […] Continue reading →
For about a week now I have been on a holiday in Mindszent. It started rather cold, but nothing compared to Norway. Most fruit trees were already blooming: During the first part of the holiday I have been running on the dikes with Espen, and then about 10 kms a day. It was much needed, as we other wise have been mostly just relaxing and eating great tasting Hungarian food, like Hurka and Kolbasz. The family also boiled a huge ham for Easter. The days are quite different here, as we more or […] Continue reading →
Of course not, at least that is what most of us would say. Tonight I was watching the news on the Hungarian channel Duna TV (yes, some of you have seen me there before), and what did I see? No one has reported to them any unregular activities on the beach. At first I couldn’t do […] Continue reading →
I’m surprised and can still not really believe that it could happen. I have always enjoyed staying in Germany, and one of the reasons was that I found the towns and villages that I visited to be clean, and that the local communities took care of their surrounding areas. A few days ago, my image changed completly! Last year 20 villages in Hungary, two in Csongrád county, got delivered a total of 4.000 tons of rubbish from Germany! According to the county police of Bács-Kiskun Megye […] Continue reading →
After the extreme heat we have gotten some beautiful days, with in between 30-35 degrees. I know, I know, normally I would have complained a lot, but after a week with temperatures above 40 degrees, this feels quite nice. I have more or less spent every afternoon of my holidays on the beautiful, renewed beach in Mindszent. During the worst heat, more then a 1.000 people found their way here, but after the temperature went down again to acceptable, there have been in between 50-100 people. […] Continue reading →
