I have just come back from a longer trip to Hungary with two new Hungarian movies on DVD, Szöke Kóla and Szabadság Szerelem. And today I went through one of the shopping centres downtown Oslo and bought Taxidermia. One of my favourite movie makers, Nimród Antal, is out with a new movie. He got world famous for Kontroll, a dark subway movie from Budapest. Vacancy is a thriller, and the plot is a young couple (David and Amy Fox, played by Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale) find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere when their car breaks down. According to Betanews Toshiba has started shipments shipments of their new HD-A20 HD DVD player. The player is the first of the high-definition players, either Blu-ray or HD DVD, to offer 1080p resolution for about 2.700 NOK (US $ 400). The player is equipped with a HDMI-connection (1.3) and networking capabilities, and is capable of upscaling ordinary DVDs to near HD quality according to Toshiba. I am excited, and I have locked myself in for the weekend to test out my XBOX360 with HDTV projector, a long with the next generation of home movies. The projector that I have borrowed is Mitsubishi Electronic HC5000. For now I only have three HD DVD movies, Poseidon, V for Vandetta and Serenity. The HD DVD Edition of Serenity seems to have been selling well, cause Play.com has been temporarily soldout for ages. Being Firefly addicted, the movie was of course the first one I ordered.
